In 1999, amtri
veritas was approached by the Department of Trade
and Industry (now BIS) and requested to become an approved notified
body under regulation 18 (1) of the supply of machinery safety

This enabled amtri veritas
to perform machinery safety examinations as an official body fulfilling
the government requirement to appoint CE Marking boides.
In 2009 BIS updated amtri
veritas's notified body appointment to carry out
examinations under the revised machinery directive 2006/42/EC.
